What happens when you combine two of many people's favorite pastimes? Exactly: A new, wonderfully cozy format emerges – "Knitting in the Cinema!"

And we are thrilled to invite you to our knitting cinema in Hamburg!

On Saturday, May 18, 2025 , at 11:00 a.m. in the legendary Zeise Kino in Hamburg-Ottensen, the time has come:
We knit together in the cinema – with light, wool, a special film and lots of heart.

What is “Knitting in the Cinema” anyway?

This idea originated in Scandinavia and has now become a real trend in Germany. The idea is both simple and brilliant:
A cinema where the lights are dimmed but not turned off so that you can knit during the film.
A film that inspires, touches and invites reflection.
A community of like-minded people who share their passion for knitting and spend a lovely morning together.

In cooperation with Zeise Kinos , we are now bringing this special concept to Hamburg – to a place where culture and creativity have long been at home: in the converted brick walls of a former ship propeller factory in the heart of Ottensen.

What's playing at the cinema?

We are showing the film “Dreams” , one of the three films in the acclaimed Norwegian trilogy “Oslo Stories” by Dag Johan Haugerud.

The trilogy consists of three independent works— "Love , " "Dreams," and "Longing" —each featuring new characters and independent stories. Each of these works offers a unique, intelligent, and sensitive perspective on central questions of our lives: dreams, love, identity, longing, and coexistence.

“Dreams” won the Golden Bear at the 2025 Berlinale and is considered one of the strongest European film events of the year.

Do you have to knit to participate?

Clearly: No!

Those who simply want to enjoy the film are also welcome. The cinema will be a little brighter than usual, but your enjoyment of the film will still be undisturbed.
Whether you’re knitting or not – you’re invited, just as you are.

There's no dress code, no seating arrangement, no "you have to." Just "you may," and it's all done with a great deal of comfort.
